Canada Water underground is a five minute transfer or fifteen minute walk from the apartments, with connections to central London, the 'city' (financial district) and throughout the Docklands area.
Or use the river to get into the west end. The pier at canary wharf offers several river boat services along the Thames and into central london. The same views as the tourist boats but much cheaper.
