Friendly, clean cheapish hotel (stay date July 2004)
The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful - we were upgraded to
one of the newly decorated rooms and it was very nice. The room was meticulously clean. Only things wrong was that there was no remote for the telly, and no fan. We had to have the windows open and put up with the street noise instead - hence the room noise getting a poor rating. Didn't get a chance to check out the £69 rooms - will be interesting to see next time we stay up town. (Review by Dee)
Dishonest & Unreliable Staff. Stay Away (stay date July 2004)
I never expected to be treated to the old bait and switch at this hotel after reading the reviews. After booking a triple on the phone we made our entrance 2 weeks later only to be told that I called and cancelled the reservation. I told the clerk that unless I was suffering from selective amnesia the cancellation call never transpired and would he be so kind as to provide details. He couldn't but he could provide my friends and I with 2 rooms instead of the triple reserved at the low, low rate of $100 USD more than our reservation. When told that was unacceptable -that we weren't bartering for a reservation made directly with the hotel and not cancelled by me-the staff became irate. This song and dance continued with the couple that arrived after us. Only they were treated with the added twist of the hotel manager yelling at them that they should've booked directly with the hotel to avoid this type of hassle. Ha Ha. We ended up walking two blocks and stayed at the Ibis where the manager took $40USD off the room rates and gave us 2 rooms for the price of the triple at the Euston. Stay away from the Euston Square Hotel like the plague. (Review by Francisca)
