A four-year dispute over pay and conditions, which almost led to a strike on the tube on New Year's Eve, was finally ended when signal workers have voted to accept a new deal this week.
The Rail Maritime and Transport Union (RMT) said its members voted by 135 to 60 in favour of an agreement with London Underground which will lead to a 35 hour week for signal workers from July 2005.
The deal also includes be staged pay rises, which will raise basic rates for a signaller to £31,450 and to £44,000 for a senior line controller by 2007.
The threatened New Year's Eve strike (reported in this earlier london news story) was called off on Christmas Eve.
