Tower Bridge re-opens tomorrow

Tower bridge will re-open on schedule on Sunday night, Transport for London (TFL) confirmed yesterday. The famous bridge has been closed for more than a week.

Thousands of motorists have been forced to take lengthy diversions since the bridge was closed last weekend. TFL closed the bridge to allow engineers to carry out a thorough survey of the historic, 111 year old London landmark.

A spokesman for TFL said that: 'Timber panels exposed to the weather were found to be in much better condition than we expected.'
