We knew the Olympics would be expensive (if we win), but the bill for hosting the International Olympic Committee in London last month came as a bit of a shock, at £680,000 for the 4 day visit.
Of the £680,000, almost 80% was spent on presentations, hiring venue space and technical support, with the rest going on preparations for the visit, Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell said in a written answer to a question from Labour former sports minister Kate Hoey.
The 14 member inspection team spent four days in London last month assessing the London's bid for the 2012 Games, before moving on to New York and the Paris.
