A number of London's most famous landmarks have been lit up in support of the London 2012 Olympic Games bid, including Big Ben, the Tower of London, Tate Modern, Tower Bridge, Somerset House, the Royal Festival Hall and Battersea Power Station.
Images projected onto the building show images of athletes jumping over some of london's other landmarks, including the London Eye and Buckingham Palace, and carry slogans 'backing the bid'. Wembley Stadium's arch was also lit up to support the city's bid, and could be seen from all over London.
The event was described by organisers as the 'largest coordinated set of projections ever seen' and it is part of the effort to impress an International Olympic Committee (IOC) delegation which is in London to assess the city's bid.
A spokesman for the London bid team said: 'The striking illuminations will give a warm welcome to the visiting IOC evaluation commission, and will reinforce the combination of iconic and inspirational landmarks that would be the backdrop to a London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.'
The event was also designed to encourage people to register their support by logging on to the London 2012 website.
