A revised version of the Monopoly board game will be released this year, with the london stations replaced by airports, the utilities by 'forms of communication' and London Eye, Covent Garden and Wemley Stadium will all be featured.
A new, limited edition version of the 70 year old game will go on sale in the summer and Parker, the maker of the game, has yet to draw up a final list of addresses although it confirmed that they will include the London Eye, Covent Garden and Wembley Stadium.
The four railway stations - King's Cross, Marylebone, Paddington and Fenchurch Street - will been replaced by Gatwick, Stansted, London City and Heathrow airports - with no space for the 'London' Luton airport perhaps confirming that it's not in London after all!
The utility squares (electricity and water works) will be replaced on the new board by 'two forms of communication', but the 4 corner squares - Go, Jail, Go to Jail and Free Parking - remain the same, as do Chance and Community Chest.
However, players who land on the Chance or Community Chest square will pick up cards with updated penalties and prizes such as paying the congestion charge or winning the National Lottery.
A prototype of the new game will go on display at Toy Fair 2005, a trade event starting this week in London.
